Pop-up porridge café planned

A porridge café pop up is to open next month in London, serving a variety of different versions of the breakfast dish.

The Porridge Café, set up by street food catering company Bow Food, will offer a rotating menu of 11 different grains, including buckwheat and quinoa.

Nik Williamson, founder of the Porridge Café, said: “We were inspired to launch the café after seeing the Nordic revival of porridge, where it has been shown to be an exciting and versatile staple dish - both savoury and sweet.”

The pop-up will also offer savoury porridges at lunch, with recipes such as red velvet beetroot spelt, feta and capers topped with a poached egg.

Customers have the option to sit in or take-away.

The café will open on Monday 2 March, from 7am-6pm, and will stay open until Sunday 29 March in Paul Street - between Shoreditch and Old Street.

This comes after a cereal café, The Cereal Killer, opened late last year in Shoreditch, offering a range of vintage and American cereals to breakfast lovers.
