The Tesco boss in charge of in-store restaurants and coffee shops, such as Harris + Hoole and Euphorium, has reportedly left the business.
According to The Telegraph, Michael Holmes, chief executive of new food experiences at Tesco, has stepped down from his role as director of in-supermarket businesses, including Harris + Hoole, Euphorium, Giraffe and Dobbies.
According to reports, Holmes departure is part of plans made by new Tesco chief executive, David Lewis, to cull up to 10,000 jobs, including up to 1,000 store management staff.
A Tesco spokesperson said: “There are a lot of changes happening at Tesco at the moment and it will be providing no comment on any individual’s departures.”
Tesco opened Giraffe restaurants and Harris + Hoole coffee shops, under former executive Philip Clark, in a bid to attract more shoppers into stores.
The Harris + Hoole coffee chain made a pre-tax loss of £12.8m in its year-end results for 2014, and closed one of its Tesco concession stores, in Highbury, London.
Tesco has seen a rapid overhaul of senior management since Lewis joined, including UK chief executive Chris Bush, Matt Atkinson, the chief creative officer, and David Hobbs, the group business planning and strategy director.
Holmes was in the role at Tesco for almost three years. The Telegraph stated that corporate filings showed that he had now stepped down from his role.
