Bako, the baking products and supplies company, has rebranded its own-label product line following “extensive customer research”.

Last year Bako North Western, the Preston-based firm, bought sister company Bako Northern & Scotland in a deal to create a business with a turnover of more than £100m. Now, the wholesale bakery, baking products and ingredients supplies company has rebranded its Bako Own Label range as Bako Select.

The 25-year-old range was well received in the 2015 survey, but the feedback was that customers wanted more of an emphasis placed on the selection process for the products, which include cake mixes, pastry, and cream alternatives.

Reasoning

Nicola Emmerson, brand executive for Bako, told British Baker that the company wanted to “assure them [customers] that our products are selected by experts for experts”, and that was the reasoning behind the change of name.

The Bako Select website will launch on 25 January, and will feature all the products alongside access to basic product and technical information. There will be £1,000 credit available to win for all customers visiting the site on its first day.
