Hobbs House, the Cotswolds-based artisan baker, is set to open a fourth shop in Malmesbury, Wiltshire.

Due to be opened on 28 January, the shop takes over an existing site from Hall’s bakery and will employ four staff for the moment.

It will sell a range of cakes baked on-site and bread will be supplied from Hobbs House’s original Chipping Sodbury bakery.

Anna Herbert, marketing manager at Hobbs House, said: “We’ve got three shops in local market towns and it is good to add a new one.

“It has been a bakery for a really, really long time and we would like to keep it going.”

expand into Wiltshire

She added that it was good to expand into Wiltshire, as the other stores are in Gloucestershire, but said there were no new openings on the horizon. Efforts would instead be directed this year towards developing new breads for the bakery.

Last March, Hobbs House closed its six-year-old store in Cirencester, blaming a lack of footfall in the area.

Herbert said: “We tried lots of different things but it did not work out for us.”

Hobbs House is run by brothers Tom and Henry Herbert, aka TV cooks the Fabulous Baker Brothers. Although no new television shows are planned at the moment, they produced several baking and cooking videos on the Hobbs House YouTube channel and Anna Herbert said they would be looking to make more this year.
