Bidvest Foodservice, the wholesale retailer, has released a range of bakery goods as part of a major relaunch of its own label products.

The own-label offer is split into four ranges; the non-food Essential Supplies, the Farmstead meat offer, and the Essential Favourites and Premium Selection ranges, which both contain bakery products.

Everyday Favourites contains around 120 products spread over bread, cakes and pastries, including bagels and sultana scones, while the Premium Selection bakery offer comprises five new tall cakes and two premium French desserts, including red velvet cake and tarte aux poires. The majority of the products are supplied frozen and are produced by a wide range of manufactures.

Rachel Cook, category development manager for bakery, desserts and fine foods at Bidvest, said: “The relaunch of the Bidvest Own Brand portfolio has very much been created with our customers at its core. The aim of the new brands is to provide solutions for the challenges our customers face on a daily basis, and we have included products within the range to suit a variety of different needs.

“Innovation is also a big part of the relaunch, and our development teams continually analyse market trends to ensure that items inspired by current foodie movements are included within the range. In doing this, we’re helping our customers to keep their offering fresh and modern, something which is of high importance in today’s competitive marketplace.”

The Premium Selection range has been endorsed by the Craft Guild of Chefs, an industry association for the foodservice and hospitality sector, who test products on appearance, flavour, portion size and cooking instructions.

Cook said: “Only if an item is endorsed by the Craft Guild of Chefs will it be included within our Premium Selection range – this is a brand requirement.”
