Warrens Bakery, the Cornish craft bakery, is delighted with its recent victories, which coincide with its expansion.

Recently voted Cornwall’s favourite pasty maker by the Cornish public in four independent radio and newspaper polls, Warrens was also announced as a winner at The World Pasty Championship.

The bakery also won a collection of accolades at The 2016 British Pie Awards. In addition to the Highly Commended award for its Traditional Cornish Pasty, it also brought home more Silver and Bronze awards than any other pasty producer in the competition.

To top it all, Warrens claimed the prestigious Open Savoury category with its chicken, potato, swede and onion in a creamy white sauce pasty.

Mark Sullivan, chairman of Warrens, said: “As the oldest pasty producer in the world, producing pasties since 1860, we have been winning awards across the decades, but these feel very special.

“One of our main points of difference is that we not only make these products, but we retail them as well. This allows us to constantly be in touch with our customers and allows us to develop our product range and be innovative.”

Expansion

Warrens is opening its first store outside Cornwall, Devon and Somerset this weekend (19 March). Opening on Bristol’s City Centre high street, the store will sell artisan products including savouries, scones, artisan breads, cakes, sweet treats and regional speciality biscuits.

Commenting on the Bristol opening, Sullivan added: “We are very proud to be expanding our portfolio of stores across the south west. The unveiling of the store sees a long-term ambition of ours come to fruition and marks the start of an extremely exciting time for us as we increase our presence across the country.”
