Baketime recalls various product lines

Baketime, which supplies Aldi and wholesaler Booker among others, has recalled numerous biscuit, snack and confectionery products that may have been produced in “unhygienic conditions”.

Up to 16 products have been called in as a “precautionary measure”, due to possible “pest contamination”, an alert issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has revealed.

Aldi’s Ginger Nuts, Cheese Thins, Cheese Bakes, and Oddbites in cheese, salt & vinegar and smoky bacon flavours were among the products listed.

An Aldi spokeswoman told British Baker: “We have recalled a number of Aldi-branded products that have been manufactured by Baketime, and have immediately suspended all orders with this supplier while we investigate this matter.

“Customers that have purchased the products listed in our public recall notices should return them to their nearest store, where they will be offered a full refund.”

Bestway Mini Brownies and All Butter Shortbread, Happy Shopper Choc Chip Cookies and LBV Strawberry and Vanilla Biscotti may also be affected, the FSA said.

“Baketime Ltd has provided all their customers with point-of-sale notices for display in stores,” the FSA alert stated.

“These notices will inform consumers why the products are being recalled and will tell them what to do if they have bought the products.”

Baketime Ltd was unavailable for comment when contacted by British Baker.
