Artisan bakery Peyton and Byrne has opened a fifth shop in the capital.

Described by owner and restaurateur Oliver Peyton as the “perfect place to stock up for an impromptu picnic in Regent’s Park”, the Great Portland Street establishment in London sells signature handmade cakes, biscuits, oven-fresh pies and tarts.

The 1,000 sq ft 40-cover site, which has retained original features, including a Victorian façade, herringbone parquet floor, and herringbone slip brick counter display, also serves healthy breakfasts, lunchtime savouries, celebratory cakes and a range of Peyton and Byrne’s own teas with the aim of catering for “local office workers looking for a quality weekday lunch”.

The group currently operates four other bakeries in Hammersmith, Greenwich, Central St Giles and Covent Garden, as well as outlets at a number of visitor attractions including the RA Grand Café at the Royal Academy of Arts.
