Cutter & Squidge Bakery and The Hummingbird Bakery have been ranked among the top 10 in a Hello! magazine survey of the best venues for afternoon tea in London.

Cutter & Squidge’s recently established Hello Kitty café pop-up came top of the list, with Hello! appreciating the secret garden themed Hello Kitty paradise, which it said provided the “perfect backdrop for a sumptuous Hello Kitty Afternoon Tea”. The tea is available from 1 July to 31 August at a cost of £24.50 per person.

Meanwhile, Afternoon Tea Under the Sea with Hummingbird Bakery was ranked in fifth place on the Hello! list thanks to its partnership with the Sunborn London Yacht Hotel, moored near to the ExCeL exhibition centre.

Homemade sweet and savoury delicacies in the offer are themed around the sea and include cream filled choux pastry shells, macarons and a selection of cupcakes with frosting in the shape of seahorses, anchors, star fish, lighthouses, shells and yachts.

Each tea includes four cupcakes, two brownies and a selection of savoury finger sandwiches, as well as scones and a pot of tea, based on two sharing. Guests also have the option to take away a custom created Hummingbird  Bakery box.

The Hummingbird Bakery told British Baker: “Sunborn London gave us the opportunity to make fun mini cupcakes with a nautical twist for their beautiful Under the Sea Afternoon Tea experience. The cupcakes are ordered via our corporate accounts service, which is tailored to each company to give them a discount on large, regular orders placed with us. Decorators in our bespoke cakes department, who specialise in fondant decorations and piping, created different under the sea designs and these mini cupcakes are baked fresh to order and delivered by our delivery drivers to the hotel. The partnership with Sunborn London is ongoing and we are delighted to be onboard this new baking journey with them.”

The Sunborn London Under the Sea Afternoon Tea in partnership with The Hummingbird Bakery starts from £26 per person.
