A new coffee and snack concept selling Country Choice bakery items has been launched by petrol station brand Jet across its forecourt network.

The fuel brand has partnered with coffee vending and espresso machine provider Expresso Plus to roll out ‘Snack on the Go’ display shells with self-serve food-to-go units selling hot and cold food, drinks and treats.

Jet dealers will be able to choose items from Country Choice’s full bakery range including muffins, pasties and croissants and tailor what they sell to suit their customer demographic at different times throughout the day, a spokeswoman told British Baker.

Jet hopes the tie-up with Expresso Plus, which also works with brands including Lavazza, PG Tips, and Nescafé, will drive footfall across its sites.

“The demand for food-to-go in the convenience sector has seen a 33% year-on-year growth,” said Lauren Tyler, marketing manager, at Expresso Plus.

“Breakfast-to-go has seen the highest increase with 64% of consumers [source: Allegra 2015] buying a hot drink with their purchase. Forecourts are ideally placed to capitalise on this trend.”

Stuart Cufflin, transport and retail contracts manager at Jet, added: “We’re always looking to help Jet dealers drive footfall onto their forecourts and we believe ‘Snack on the Go’ will do just that. With the continued trend toward forecourts becoming convenience destinations, coffee and food-to-go present strong commercial opportunities that dealers can – and should be taking advantage of.”

In April Country Choice launched a range of bake-from-frozen sausage rolls.
