Food to go brand Urban Eat has developed a range of sandwiches and wraps aimed at vegetarians and vegans.

Approved by the Vegetarian Society, the nine-strong selection comprises six sandwiches and three wraps, three of which are suitable for vegans.

These are: A-Mezze-ing, a tomato tortilla wrap with harrisa houmous and sweet potato falafel; Bhaji Bonanza, a sandwich containing onion bhaji and mango chutney; and Shabby Chic Pea, a harissa houmous, chickpea, carrot and orange chutney sandwich.

Vegetarians also have the choice of The Beat Goes On, a sandwich filled with goat’s cheese and
beetroot, alongside Feta The Better, Rocket Eggs and Mozza Ella Ella options.

It is estimated that approximately 12% of the UK population follows a meat-free diet.

“We felt there was a real gap for some innovative food-to-go products, so we have carefully developed exciting flavours, created quirky product names and colourful packaging to offer much more choice
for consumers looking for non-meat options,” said
Urban Eat senior brand manager Isla Owen.

“We have taken inspiration from flavours from all over the world; we were keen to move away from just traditional meat-free recipes and we feel we’ve done that and have some really tasty, fresh, exciting
products.”

Last year Urban Eat launched a range of healthier food-to-go items under the Eat Better brand.
