Gluten-free bakery, Almondy has raised a total of just over £7,500 for the Katie Piper Foundation charity, which specialises in helping survivors of burns and scars.

The scheme was set up over three years ago, but a week-long social media drive of donations set up by the bakery raised a further £2,000.

Twitter users were encouraged to follow and share what made them #FeelGood, with Almondy donating £3 for every participant. Followers were rewarded with the chance to win a signed copy of Katie Piper’s latest book and, for one winner, a pamper day for two worth £150.

Andrew Ely, managing director of Almondy, commented: “I am thrilled that we have managed to raise such a significant amount and our amazing followers should feel incredibly proud of their achievement.

He added: “This year’s focus was about feeling good. The Katie Piper Foundation works tirelessly to support those living with burns and scars and we hope the money raised goes some way to continuing their vital work.”

Katie Piper is a television presenter, who suffered severe facial burns and was blinded in one eye after sulphuric acid was thrown in her face by her ex-partner.
