Brighton-based business Flour Pot Bakery has opened up a new branch this week in Hove, taking its total number of retail sites to four.

The company opened the doors to its latest store on 1st Avenue on Saturday 6 August. Its other three stores are in Brighton.

The site, which is spacious and carries the same theme as its other outlets, attracted a large amount of interest over the weekend, said the company.

Flour Pot Bakery owner Oli Hyde told British Baker: “The feedback from our new customers has been very encouraging. We make sure all our staff spend time in our production kitchen and bakery, so they fully understand what they are selling and how much work goes into making these artisan products.”

He added: “My aim is to continue to look for sites that ‘tick the boxes’ we have in 1st Avenue. Our Flour Pot retail model is something I feel could transfer very well to many areas in Sussex and beyond.”

Hyde has made several alternations to his businesses over the last few weeks – changing his coffee supplier and introducing ‘Donut Fridays’, which he says have gone down extremely well with the customers.

The Flour Pot Bakery started life as a small wholesale artisan bakery business just over three years ago. After a year in the business, the company decided it needed to celebrate its products in its own retail outlets and opened its first shop in Sydney Street, Brighton.

In February 2015, Flour Pot Bakery opened two more sites, and also secured its first London customers for wholesale.
