BB’s launches charity muffin with Ronan Keating

BB’s has launched Mrs Pink Muffin in aid of breast cancer charity The Marie Keating Foundation, founded by pop star Ronan Keating.

This October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, BB’s (short for bakers and baristas) will donate 25p from the sale of every new Mrs Pink Muffin to the Marie Keating Foundation, the charity set up by singer Ronan Keating and his family after the death of his mother.

All 39 BB’s in the UK are taking part in the fundraising campaign, and suppliers Bako and Dawn Foods are getting behind the initiative, which includes a target to sell at least 40,000 Mrs Pink Muffins.

The stores and participating franchises will be holding a Mrs Pink Coffee Morning on Friday, 28 October. On this day, the Mrs Pink Muffins will be free of charge, but BB’s are asking customers to give a donation to the Marie Keating Foundation.

Speaking at the launch of the Mrs Pink Muffin, Ronan Keating said: “Almost all of us know someone who is affected by breast cancer, whether it’s our mother, our sister, our daughter or a friend. Having a Mrs Pink Muffin is a great way to give yourself an occasional treat while also helping the Marie Keating Foundation in our fight against this disease.”

Andrew Moyes, chief executive of BB’s, said: “Like many of our team members, I was personally affected by breast cancer when my wife was diagnosed with the disease two years ago, so I hope the funds that we raise will help prevent this happening to another family.”
