High street sandwich firm Subway has launched a campaign to provide gloves to keep the elderly and the homeless warm in the winter.

The activity will take place on Tuesday 25 October. On that date, if consumers take a new pair of gloves into their local Subway and hand them over along with a £1 coin, they will get a free sandwich and a drink.

A team of football players from Guiseley have joined forces with their local Subway at White Cross to give the Subway Gloves for Subs campaign a kick start.

Local Subway franchisee Ian Dawes said: “As Guiseley AFC play Gateshead on that day, we are extending the time at the Guiseley branch from 11am to 7pm so that those going to the game can get involved with the campaign.”

Guiseley AFC manager Adam Lockwood said: “The players will all be chipping in their money and pairs of gloves and we hope that all our supporters follow suit as well.”

Last month Subway set up the company’s first-ever Instagram account, aiming to create a community around conceptually high-quality content.
