Roberts Bakery reaches £50k for breast cancer charity

Northwich-based business Roberts Bakery has reached its £50,000 fundraising target for the charity Prevent Breast Cancer.

The bakery turned 5m wholemeal packs pink and asked shoppers to purchase them at its local supermarkets. The money raised from the wholemeal packs will help fund research to help prevent breast cancer.

As part of Roberts’ ongoing relationship with breast cancer prevention, the bakery is helping to fund ground-breaking research, which could revolutionise the UK breast screening programme.

Last month, a team of cyclists completed the 320-mile journey from London to Paris, and significantly exceeded their £9k target by raising £60k.

To mark the fundraising milestone, breast cancer survivor and Roberts’ family member Lindsay Occleston – along with colleagues Peter Styles and Jill Adams – joined the Prevent Breast Cancer team at its Nightingale Centre HQ in Manchester.

Occleston expressed how delighted they were to reach the £50k target.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has picked up a pink pack over the last 12 months, she said.

“Without their help we wouldn’t have been able to reach our target and therefore play a role in helping to prevent breast cancer forever. This is the first year we’ve partnered with Prevent Breast Cancer, but we hope to lend our support again with future fundraising initiatives for the charity.”
