GBBO producers seeking amateur bakers for first Channel 4 series

Love Productions has begun searching for amateur bakers to appear in The Great British Bake Off (GBBO) TV show when it moves to Channel 4 next year.

“The hunt is on for amateur bakers to take part in the eighth series of The Great British Bake Off,” stated the firm’s website. “If you fancy putting your skills to the test, then apply now and prove what you're made of.”

Candice Brown, who recently quit her teaching job for a baking career, was crowned the winner of the seventh series at the end of October - beating off competition from finalists Andrew Smyth and Jane Beedle.

Paul Hollywood is the only celebrity who has agreed to stay with the show after the BBC lost its rights to broadcast GBBO.

The decision saw fellow judge Mary Berry and hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins leave the programme.

The show will be broadcast on Channel 4 for the first time next year, but the production company has not confirmed an air date.

Bakers have until the 8 January 2017 to submit their applications.
