Customer designs new cake for Patisserie Valerie
A customer has designed a new whole gateau and individual slice for Patisserie Holdings-owned Patisserie Valerie.
Created by Katie Bignall, who is from Bristol, it was the winning design from the Madame Valerie Gateau inventor competition, which Patisserie Valerie ran in conjunction with short holiday specialist firm Superbreak last year.
Bignall’s cake comprises layers of chocolate sponge, caramel cream and honeycomb pieces, which is topped with white chocolate, salted caramel truffles and decorated with chocolate cigarettes.
Branded the ‘Madame Valerie Gateau’, the limited-edition gateau will be priced at £32.95 and can be ordered online via the Patisserie Valerie website for collection or delivery, or customers can try an individual slice in stores across the UK.
Paul May, CEO of Patisserie Valerie, said this was the first time the business had added something designed by a customer.
“This is just the start of Patisserie Valerie trialling new products and ranges and we hope to do this more often in the future,” he said.
Patisserie Valerie has launched the gateau to coincide with its new marketing campaign, which looks at the heritage and history of Madame Valerie and the brand. The new products will be available until the end of April 2017.
