Devon-based WT Endacott, which has been owned by the same family since it was founded in 1885, has been sold.

WT Endacott, which traded as Endacotts Bakery, was founded in South Zeal before relocating to a bakery and shop in Okehampton in 1984, where it also later took on additional shop.

The bakery operates a wholesale trade business, with around 170 Devon-based clients including hotels, pubs, cafés and corner shops, to which it delivers with a nine-strong fleet of liveried vans.

Owners Michael and Ann Finucane recently decided to retire, and instructed specialist business transfer agency Beardsley Theobalds to act on their behalf for the sale.

WT Endacott has been acquired by Somerset-based bakery owner Nick Gould, who operates The Oven Door Bakery, which delivers to wholesale customers across Hampshire and parts of Wiltshire.

Beardsley Theobalds said the company had attracted interest from across the UK, including businesses in the area targeting expansion.
