The Great British Bake Off’s Benjamina Ebuehi is developing an exclusive product for London’s Luminary Bakery.

Luminary Bakery has announced a collaboration with The Great British Bake Off (GBBO) series seven contestant Benjamina Ebuehi.

The bakery is a new social enterprise based in London’s Hackney, which aims to empower women “by equipping them with transferrable skills for the working world”.

It offers courses, work experience and paid employment in a safe and professional environment.

It said in a statement: “Through training, employment and community, Luminary Bakery aims to break the generational cycles of abuse, prostitution, criminal activity and poverty.”

As a Luminary ambassador, Ebuehi is developing a new ‘top secret’ bakery product, available exclusively at the bakery’s café in Stoke Newington, north-west London, which is set to open this month.

Ebuehi said: “I believe that the gifts and talents we’ve been given should be shared and used to benefit and encourage others – I’ve chosen to do that through partnering with Luminary Bakery.

“They are doing a wonderful job of equipping, training and listening to women, and I’m so excited to be a part of the journey.’’

Ebuehi will be running a masterclass at the café on 20 June, with all proceeds going towards supporting women who have experienced sexual exploitation, homelessness, domestic violence or criminal convictions.
