Today (30 June) is National Cream Tea Day, and bakers from across the nation have been whipping up one of Britain’s quintessential treats.

Running for its third consecutive year, National Cream Tea Day has been created by The Cream Tea Society in association with clotted cream company Rodda’s and preserves supplier Tiptree.

“We are delighted to announce that after a very successful second year, we will be bringing you another day full of all things scones, jam and cream (clotted, of course) on Friday 30th June,” Cream Tea Society wrote on its website.

“Whether you fancy hosting an afternoon tea to rival the Queen’s, or simply want to treat your nearest and dearest to freshly baked scones swamped with jam and cream. So bring out your best china, lay out your gingham and prepare to feast together like never before.”

Bakers have been showing off their creations across Twitter to celebrate the event.
