Malt producer Muntons has hired Mark Tyldesley as the company’s new deputy managing director.

Tyldesley said he was delighted to have joined a “first-class” organisation with a successful heritage and was excited by the challenges ahead.

Working closely with the company’s manufacturing and commercial teams, Tyldesley will be involved in the delivery of the company’s global strategy and improved business performance to meet the objectives set over the next few years.

Tyldesley has previously held senior positions with Premier Foods and Tesco, and has international experience after undertaking roles in Africa, the Middle East and mainland Europe.

Muntons said that the new appointment brought “added strength” to the existing executive team to ensure a continued focus on growing the business on a structured and sustainable basis.

Alan Ridealgh, managing director of Muntons, said the company was very pleased to be able to announce the appointment of Tyldesley to the position of deputy managing director.

“We have every confidence that Mark will continue to build on the successes that Muntons has already achieved,” said Ridealgh.

Muntons recently set itself a new record in 2016 by exceeding 100,000 tonnes of malt production.
