Dirk Van de Put to succeed Irene Rosenfeld as CEO of Mondelēz

Mondelēz International has announced that McCain Foods president Dirk Van de Put will succeed Irene Rosenfeld as the new CEO following her decision to step down.

Rosenfeld will leave her role as Mondelēz CEO in November 2017, but will remain as chairman of the board until she retires in March 2018.

Rosenfeld said that she was very proud of what colleagues at Mondelēz International had accomplished.

“The outlook is bright for this great company — one of the few that has consistently delivered on both the top and bottom lines, while making critical investments for future growth,” Rosenfeld said. “The board and I are confident that Dirk Van de Put is the right leader to take us forward.

She added: “Throughout his career, Dirk has had a proven track record of driving top-line and category growth, while at the same time improving cost structures and profitability. And he has achieved these results with a values-based leadership style and a steadfast focus on people.”

Van de Put (pictured above) brings nearly 30 years of experience in the food and consumer packaging industry to this new leadership role.

During his six-year tenure as McCain Foods CEO, he grew net sales by more than 50%, generating more than 75% of that growth organically, with EBITDA growing by double digits each of the last six years.
