Nottingham-based bakery Butt Foods has secured a contract to supply its sourdough naans to Soho Coffee Co.

Baked in Soho’s kitchens, the three-strong range, which comes in four or six-inch variants, includes the chicken fajita naan, chickpea masala & paneer naan and pulled pork & red pickles naan.

The range will be part of Soho’s new autumn menu across its 40 branches in the UK. The chain said it has created a range of applications for the Baked Earth sourdough naans.

Butt Foods created the naans in response to trends for premium and new Indian food. In a study about the Indian restaurant sector, the firm highlighted that it was moving away from traditional curries into new flavours, snacks and small plates, different presentation and extended meal occasions.

David Williams, commercial director of Butt Foods, said the company was thrilled Soho Coffee had selected the sourdough naans for its new menu.

“The dishes that have been created for the menu are exactly the type of applications we had in mind when we developed the sourdough naan – items that would be simple and convenient for chefs to create, and incredibly appealing and tasty for customers of other foodservice outlets.”

At the start of the year, Butt Foods commissioned celebrity chef Cyrus Todiwala to develop a range of uses for the artisan sourdough naans.
