Tesco has recalled its Finest Chocolate Cakes after a manufacturing error, which saw Tesco Finest Carrot Cake packed into the boxes instead.

The cakes, which are manufactured by Finsbury Food Group, are being recalled as a precautionary measure as the carrot cake contains walnuts, which means it poses a possible health risk to anyone with a nut allergy.

The error was discovered yesterday (9 January) and affects a small number of boxes that have the batch code D32/18003 with a best before date of 17 January 2018.

“Finsbury Food Group took rapid action to notify Tesco of an isolated packing error which occurred in relation to a small number of cakes in a particular range,” a Finsbury spokesperson told British Baker. “The group has taken steps to prevent this from occurring again in the future.”

Customers can return their products to a Tesco store to receive a full refund. No other Tesco Finest products are known to be affected.
