Northern Irish family business Grahams Bakery is ramping up its focus on the international market after securing an export deal for its Irish Oat Cookies and Irish Butter Shortbread to the US, France and Spain.

The biscuits will be exported to Europe’s biggest department store El Corte Inglés, which is based in Madrid, Spain, as well as Mariano’s in Chicago and supermarket chain Smart & Final in Los Angeles.

“It’s immensely encouraging and a great confidence boost to have new customers such as El Corte Inglés, Smart & Final and Mariano’s in our portfolio,” said Grahams commercial director Tim Graham.

Last year, Grahams secured deals for its Irish Oat Cookies and Irish Butter Shortbreads with French retailer Le Comptoir Irlandais and leading distributors in Mexico.

Following the success of its Irish biscuits overseas, the bakery made two additions to its oat-based biscuit range this month with Cranberry & Yogurt and Dark Chocolate & Ginger variants after retailers asked for additional flavours.

“We’ve just launched the new Cranberry & Yogurt and Chocolate & Ginger oat cookies because of the success of the existing Irish Oat Cookie with retailers and shoppers, especially in international markets, now a major focus for the company. Retailers have been asking us for additional flavours,” Graham added.

Australia has been tipped to offer big opportunities for UK business following Brexit, according to overseas shipping specialist ParcelHero.
