Subway aims to open 35 sites in Kent and Surrey

Subway has revealed ambitions to increase its numbers of stores in Kent and Surrey to more than 125 in the next two years.

The brand currently has 92 franchised sites across the two counties, 61 in Kent and 31 in Surrey, and plans to open a further 15 by the end of this year. It will then aim to open another 20 before the end of 2020.

Subway, which opened its first store in the region in Woking, Surrey in 1999, said the new stores would create 350 jobs in the region.

Locations available for franchisees to open a Subway store include Maidstone in Kent, and Camberley and Egham in Surrey.

“Many of our franchisees start out with little or no experience in the food industry, but all possess a strong work ethic and a passion for the Subway brand and its products,” said regional development agent Hemina Haque, who oversees Kent and Surrey for the brand.

“We believe there is still plenty of room to grow the Subway brand in Kent and Surrey, with great locations available now.”

Subway last year unveiled a new Fresh Forward look for its stores that includes digital menu boards, free-to-use charging ports and displays for the brand’s cookies, bread and vegetables.

Fresh Forward stores have opened in Queenborough (pictured above) and Maidstone in Kent, and  further Fresh Forward stores are planned as part of the region's development plans.

Subway last year revealed plans to expand its presence on the south coast.
