Miller Neill’s Flour is expanding its operations into a 16,000sq ft unit in the Titanic Quarter at Belfast’s Channel Commercial Plant.

The investment is one of "several major plans” for the future, according to the Belfast company, which is owned by Associated British Foods.

The new warehouse facility – which is close to Neill’s Flour’s city-centre mill and will store finished flour products – has been built to meet growing demand for flour driven by the rise in popularity of home baking.

At present the firm produces flour, including self-raising, plain, soda bread flour and coarse wholemeal. It also sells mixes for Irish wheaten bread and buttermilk scones.

Situated by Belfast City Airport and with direct access to the region’s two main motorways, the new site offers “the size and scale of storage space” required for the firm to grow, said Neill’s Flour sales and marketing manager Karl McCrum.

Neill’s Flour celebrated its 150th anniversary last year.
