Dr Oetker Professional rolls out sweet pizzas

Dr Oetker Professional has expanded its range of foodservice offerings with the launch of two dessert pizzas.

Available in chocolate and salted caramel, the pizzas feature Chicago Town’s deep dish base and can hold for 45 minutes once cooked.

The Chocolate Dessert Pizza has a chocolate crust topped with chocolate sauce and a trio of dark, white and milk chocolate chunks, while the Salted Caramel Dessert Pizza has a sweet dough base with a combination of milk and white chocolate chips with chunks of salted caramel.

Research by Dr Oetker Professional found that over half of UK consumers were bored with traditional dessert options and three-quarters of people would like to see menus refreshed. The company said it believed the NPD met this need.

“Our new findings show consumers are increasingly searching for desserts that will truly excite them. With 89% saying the top reason for choosing a dessert was for an indulgent treat, the arrival of the new pizzas to the Chicago Town range is sure to prove a big profit opportunity for operators,” said Richard Cooper, senior brand manager, Dr Oetker Professional (UK).

He added that research showed 71% of consumers would order the Chocolate or Salted Caramel Dessert pizzas if they saw them on a menu, so “operators can start benefiting from the popularity of the nation’s favourite frozen pizza to drive dessert sales”.
