Warburtons donates £10k to help fund community kitchen

Warburtons has donated almost £10,000 to an East Lancashire-based project that aims to help vulnerable people.

The bakery brand has partnered with Burnley FC in the Community, the official charity of Burnley FC, to help fund a community kitchen that will teach families about the importance of being active and eating a balanced diet.

The facility, which is due to open on 6 August, will also hold cooking workshops to help equip people with the skills to make healthier lifestyle choices.

Last year Warburtons gifted £10,000 to the charity to help it establish the Families Health and Wellbeing project, which seeks to make a long-term positive impact by providing information and guidance that can be applied to everyday life and at home.

“Daily work continues on the Burnley Community Kitchen and we’re proud to see the many elements of the facility taking shape,” said Paul France, Burnley FC in the Community project lead.

“We’ve come a long way over the past few months. I’d like to extend my thanks to Warburtons for their ongoing support with this project. We look forward to opening the doors to the town next month.”

Brett Warburton, executive director at Warburtons, said: “We are delighted to be able to help Burnley FC in the Community with their Families Health and Wellbeing programme.

“We aim to support projects and organisations that have real benefit to families in our local communities. This initiative is a great example of support being delivered directly to local families and we look forward to hearing how the project progresses throughout the year.”
