Evron set for expansion following Bama investment

UK bakery business Evron Foods Group is set to expand following investment by US baked goods manufacturer Bama Companies.

Oklahoma-based Bama has acquired a “significant stake” in Evron, which produces frozen and chilled bakery products for retailers, foodservice and manufacturing customers in the UK, Ireland, Europe, the US and the Middle East. Its client base includes Subway.

With an annual turnover of £49m, Evron employs 360 people at a site in Craigavon, Northern Ireland, and at its Easibake Foods business in Pontypool, Wales. Its product range includes garlic bread, baguettes and rolls, loaves and flatbread.

Evron managing director Morris Evans said the deal with Bama would enable the business to fast-track plans for a new 45,000 square foot production and innovation facility in Craigavon that will require an additional 50 staff once operational.

Founded in Texas in 1927, Bama has factories in the US, China and Europe producing biscuits, pies, buns and pizza bases for customers across the world.

“We are delighted to make this strategic investment in Evron Foods Group,” said Bama chief executive Paula Marshall, adding Evron shares Bama’s ethos of investment in people, quality and innovation.

“Working with the existing management team we have ambitious plans for the continued success of the company including expansion of the customer base, product range and manufacturing facilities in Craigavon and Pontypool,” she added.
