Colpac has unveiled a new paperboard platter range as an alternative to plastic.

The company said the market was dominated by single-use plastic and it has developed the 100% recyclable Let’s Do Lunch range in response to demands from caterers and retailers.

Colpac added that efficiency, hygiene, ease of use and security were key factors in product development of the platters, following research with sandwich manufacturers and contract caterers.

Suitable for packing sandwiches, wraps and baked products, the range comprises medium and large bases that combine with different sleeves and inserts to create a variety of platter options. The bases have double-thickness walls to provide additional strength, and pop-out handles to enable the base to be removed from the sleeve without risking food contamination.

A window sleeve option features a cellulose film that enables users to recycle the platter as a single unit. A windowless sleeve is also available following feedback from caterers that product visibility was not always a requirement as customers often opened the platter as soon as it was delivered.

“The entire Let’s Do Lunch range of platters is not only a sustainable alternative to single-use plastics, but has been designed to meet the demands of the market,” said Colpac product manager Dave Robins.
