Steamed bun street food company Yum Bun is one of the first five businesses to be part of the Seven Dials Market in London, which is set to open in September.

Seven Dials, located close to Covent Garden in the heart of London, is being run by Kerb Food, a membership organisation designed to develop and promote street food businesses. This will be its first permanent bricks-and-mortar home, although it also has temporary sites at King’s Cross and West India Quay.

Yum Bun will take its place at Seven Dials to sell its range of steamed buns and ‘yumplings’. The business was launched in 2010, with a Saturday stall at Hackney’s Broadway Market. It has expanded to pop-up stores at The Kitchens, Spitalfields Market and Giant Robot in Canary Wharf, which are more permanent sites.

Businesses set to join Yum Bun at Seven Dials are: Club Mexicana, which sells Mexican-inspired vegan street food; Square Root, which makes a range of sodas aimed to complement the food produced by surrounding street food sellers; Ink, which offers fresh British seafood with a twist; and Rice Guys, which produces healthy and fresh Chinese food on-the-go.

The Seven Dials Market will offer 26 independent food businesses a permanent spot to grow in a vibrant and thriving area of London, said Kerb.

All the companies announced by Kerb have been through its incubator platform, which is designed to accelerate the growth of promising street food businesses. Kerb founder Petra Barran described the move to Seven Dials as “our next step in driving this industry” and noted it would afford the companies involved a “whole new platform on which to thrive”.
