The Attenborough effect is in full swing as the public makes it clear they will not tolerate unnecessary plastic packaging. Hordes of consumers even took it upon themselves to return plastic packaging to stores after a nudge from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall as part of #OurPlasticFeedback.

Being recyclable is no longer enough so what can bakery businesses do to boost their eco-credentials and make them more appealing to plastic-free shoppers? Should they focus on plant-based packaging, compostable packaging or try to go packaging-free entirely?
