Eurostar Commodities has expanded its line-up with gluten-free chapati flours.

Produced by Eurostar Commodities’ technical development team, the product offers the softness and flexibility required for producing consistent results and handles like a traditional flour, said the supplier.

It is available in 1.5kg and 3kg bags in medium brown, white and, from January next year, wholemeal.

“This launch comes on the back of significant research and development,” said Eurostar Commodities managing director Philip Bull.

Citing Mintel research, Eurostar said 15% of UK households were now avoiding gluten.

“We recognise the increasing consumer demand for gluten-free products. However, within this category, there is varying quality,” added Bull.

“For us, the most important thing is quality. We wanted to create a product that has excellent extensibility, that is consistently reliable and, ultimately, tastes incredible, with great texture – certainly as good as, if not better than, similar products that contain gluten.”

The Yorkshire-based supplier launched its first gluten-free flour in February this year.
