Food-to-go business SSP has said it may open further Knead outlets in partnership with Paul Hollywood despite the closure of the debut site.

SSP, which operates brands including Starbucks and Upper Crust at travel locations, opened the first Knead – a new bakery concept – at Euston station in 2017.

The site sold breakfast butties, including sausage and bacon sandwiches, freshly baked pies and barista coffee every day from 7am.

However, the site was forced to close earlier this year as building worked started on the High Speed 2 (HS2) development at Euston, which will increase space at the station and boost local and long-distance commuter services.

But SSP has not ruled out opening further sites under the brand, telling British Baker: “Knead is one of a number of brands in our portfolio and, as with all our brands, we will consider opportunities to open another Knead with Paul as and when they arise.”
