Renshaw and Brighter Foods owner Real Good Food has named Paul Richardson as executive director.

The appointment of Richardson, whose background is private banking, follows the departure of chief executive officer Hugh Cawley last month. Mike Holt, who had consequently become temporary executive chairman, has returned to being non-executive chairman.

Richardson has over 20 years’ experience in financial services, having spent six years at Coutts & Co, where he was head of London Private Banking, and then at Barclays Wealth, where he served as a director. He is currently non-executive chairman at Frenkel Topping Group.

He joins Real Good Food following a period of major restructure that has seen the business simplified to two divisions, Renshaw and Brighter Foods, which each have their own managing director.

“Paul’s experience in the commercial and charitable sectors means he brings expertise in culture, strategy implementation, governance and compliance, which will complement the strategic and operational focus of the managing directors of our Brighter Foods and Renshaw businesses,” said Holt.

“The managing directors of Brighter Foods and Renshaw will continue to implement the strategy of their respective independent divisions, agreed by and reporting to the board of the company as a whole.”

Holt added that Richardson’s role would focus primarily on Plc-related matters, such as corporate governance and investor relations, together with providing support to the board and the divisional managing directors.
