Mich Turner MBE, founder of the Little Venice Cake Company, is launching her first site outside the UK.

Opening at Dubai’s The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences in the last quarter of next year, the Little Venice Cake Company atelier (studio) will sell sweet treats by the slice or as a whole cake to take away.

The site will feature a glass kitchen that will enable visitors to see the cakes being produced and will also be used to host masterclasses.

“I am looking forward to curating a collection of beautifully designed cakes and bakes, drawing inspiration from the stunning surroundings of The Royal Atlantis, focusing on totally indulgent recipes, exquisite hand craftsmanship and a sense of fun,” she said.

“We want to bring British red-carpet glamour to the UAE and combine this with local tastes to create a collection exclusive to the atelier.”

Bakes sold at the site will include doughnuts, afternoon tea loaf cakes, fudge and florentines, fresh fruit tarts, chocolate cupcakes, brownies and biscuits, as well as piñata and fresh layer cakes. It will also sell a selection of Mich’s books, china and other items.

Consumers will be able to personalise cakes and bakes from a seasonal collection for pick-up or delivery the following day. The atelier will also offer a bespoke service, and will design cakes after the client has had a face-to-face consultation with Turner and her team.

Turner, who founded Little Venice Cake Company 20 years ago, has supplied clients including Her Majesty the Queen and celebrities such as Pierce Brosnan, Sir Paul McCartney, Emma Thompson, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, Madonna, and David Beckham. She is also a regular on TV and the host of the annual Scottish Bakers conference and awards event.

“Mich is an exceptionally gifted artist and we are very fortunate to be able to welcome this very special bakery to our extraordinary culinary offering at The Royal Atlantis,” said Timothy Kelly, executive vice president and managing director of Atlantis Resorts and Residences, who added there was currently nothing similar to Little Venice Cake Company in the region.

“We have no doubt there will soon be a waiting list for one of Mich’s bespoke couture creations,” he said.

Due to open next year, the Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences (pictured below) will comprise two properties, a 2.3km stretch of private beach, 35 world-class restaurants and bars, and a nightclub. Totalling 43-storeys, it will also be home to 231 luxury residences, 795 hotel rooms and suites, over 90 swimming pools and a rooftop Skypool pool, suspended 90 metres in the air.
