Ice cream brand Ben & Jerry’s has launched Fairtrade Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Chunks.

The dough chunks are safe to eat raw and contain Fairtrade chocolate, pasteurised eggs and heat-treated flour, said the company.

The sticky and “smooshy” dough chunks were inspired by the brand’s original Cookie Dough ice cream, which has topped flavour charts worldwide, it added.

Created by manufacturer B Corp Rhino Foods, the sweet and salty dough chunks are available in 170g bags, each with six servings.

“Ice cream fans have been calling out and asking us to ‘free the chunks’ for a while now, so we’re delighted to be able to give them what they want,” said Helder Silva, flavour guru at Ben & Jerry’s.

“During a test in the US, bags flew off the shelves. Now, dough fans in Europe can get a chunk of the action.”

The Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Chunks are available with a recommended retail price of £4 from March in retailers nationwide.
