Renshaw has relaunched its cake decorating academy with an online hub and the appointment of an ambassador team.

Ambassadors have been selected to complement each other’s skills and areas of expertise, from sculpted celebration cakes, intricate modelling, detailed painting, to lifelike figures, and for their teaching abilities across grassroot sugarcraft groups, online tutorials, and TV.

The new online hub will build on the aims of the original Renshaw Academy facility in Liverpool, which was opened in 2016 but has since closed. It was designed to educate and inspire consumers to learn and improve their cake decorating skills – the focus is now on reaching a larger audience online through regular video and written tutorials.

“We’re no longer teaching courses at the physical Academy, but using our digital platforms to reach more people, and there will still be opportunities to learn hands-on with our products in classes across the UK (Europe and Americas too) with our ambassadors,” the company told British Baker.

Ambassadors include Molly Robbins of Molly’s Creative Cakes, one of the stars of Channel 4’s Extreme Cake Makers, and Emma Morris of Emma Jayne Cake Design, winner of Cake Hero (2019) and Cake Artist of the Year (2017) at the Cake Masters Awards.

Chef Nicholas Lodge, who has been connected to Renshaw since the early days of his career, will be among the ambassadors who assist in driving growth of the Renshaw Americas brand, as well as inspiring consumers with the art of sugar flower-making.

Renshaw Academy ambassadors (see full list below) will also provide opportunities in the near future for hands-on experience of Renshaw and Rainbow Dust products, during classes and events across the UK, Europe, and the Americas. This offers more chances for students to learn cake decorating tips and techniques in person, in a location that’s convenient for them, Renshaw added.
