n Farmers, producers, suppliers and retailers of all sizes are being encouraged to take part in the ninth annual Farmhouse Breakfast Week campaign. Organised by the Home Grown Cereals Authority (HGCA), the campaign highlights the high-quality regional breakfast foods available throughout the country. Farmhouse Breakfast Week 2008 takes place from 20 to 26 January next year under the strapline ’A Great Start!’

n Allied Bakeries has pleaded guilty to three health and safety charges in court after the death of a worker at its Glasgow factory. Graham Meldrum, 40, died after he was hit by his lorry while unloading bread baskets at Allied’s bakery in Maryhill in 2005. The case has been adjourned until November.

n Geoff Kluman and Mark Rooza are to join the team of The Cotswold Food Partnership (CFP). Kluman, chairman of Kluman & Balter, is advising on strategy, while Mark Rooza will join Carl Le Neveu as a director.

n The Taste of the West Trade Show, will take place on 21-22 April, 2008, at Westpoint Exhibition Centre in Exeter. The show represents over 750 food businesses in the South West.

n The National Association of Master Bakers has announced that its north west dinner dance and forum has been cancelled due to low anticipacted turnout. It was due to take place at The Midland Hotel, Manchester this weekend.

n Latest exhibitors to sign up for the Baking Industry Exhibition in Birmingham in April include Tisomi (UK) and Europa Silos. The trade show will take place at the Birmingham NEC.
