Associated British Foods (ABF) has announced that it is to acquire 20% share capital of Jordans, the breakfast cereal and cereal bar business.

The family-run W Jordan & Son, has three manufacturing sites and a head office in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. It had sales of £81m and gross assets of £40m for the year ended February 2007. George Weston, chief executive of ABF, said: "Jordans is positioned well to benefit from the consumer’s growing desire for natural ingredients and healthy eating."

ABF owns several companies including Allied Bakeries.
