This year’s British Sandwich Awards, organised by The British Sandwich Association, will be made on May 18.

Broadcaster, Richard Johnson, the frontman of BBC2’s Full on Food, will present the awards and take part in the judging.

He said: “As a journalist, I’ve covered some pretty weird issues, ranging from soap

operas to exorcism, but nothing quite prepared me for the emotionally charged world of sandwich-making. Both corporate and individual sandwich-makers take their trade very seriously.”

To be held at The Brewery, on Cresswell Street, London, the British Sandwich Awards are the culmination of British Sandwich Week 2006, which takes place from May 14 to 18.

The Total Sandwich & Snack exhibition, organised by DEW Events, will take place on May 3 and 4 at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London.
