== RGFC sees sales up ==

The Real Good Food Company has seen sales in its bakery ingredients division rise by 9.2% to £35m and "a marginal increase in revenue" for its bakery division, in its preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2008. But increased costs have seen its profits take a hit and total group sales fell by 5.4%, said the firm.

== Healthy Starbucks ==

Starbucks is currently trialling its new Live Well food range in around 30 stores in the UK. All options in the new range contain either less than 5% fat, one of your recommended five-a-day or a source of fibre, said a spokesperson for the coffee chain. Products include Tuna & Three Bean Salad and Dry Cured Ham Crêpe.

== Albany investment ==

South African baker Albany Bakeries is making a multi-plant investment in new dividing and moulding equipment from Baker Perkins. The latest phase involves the installation of 12 Accurist dough dividers and seven conical moulders in 10 of Albany’s 13 regional bakeries.

== German opportunity ==

The convenience sector in Germany is still very small, but is growing, and it would be a good opportunity for British manufacturers to target this market, said Michael Gerling, executive director of the Federal Association of the German Retail Grocery Trade, Berlin (BVL). The country is also seeing double-digit growth in health and organic foods, he added.

New fine food and drink distributor Cotswold Valley Fine Foods has clinched an exclusive deal to distribute Brewhaha’s range of teas to retailers, tea rooms and caterers throughout the Midlands, Wales and the south of England.
