A new online venture is looking for small independent artisan bakeries to put their products on the virtual shelves of its Love Your Larder (LYL) website.

Launched in early December 2010, by Tim Watson and Colin Sharpe, the site aims to provide an online farmers’ market for cash-rich, time-poor professionals who appreciate good food, but don’t have the time to search for it.

There is currently a desserts and puddings section, with a selection of products from Burtree Puddings and Proof of the Puddings, whose Christmas puddings subsequently featured in The Guardian’s online Christmas food guide.

Watson told British Baker it is keen to sign up artisan bread and cake producers. Or if bakeries don’t feel it’s feasible to send out fresh bread, they could sell baking kits, flours or even sourdough starters via the site, said Watson. "By the end of the year, we hope to have over 100 producers from different categories across the UK," he said.

There is no set-up fee, but the site will charge 15% commission on its sales a fee being waived during the soft launch, he added.

Firms that sell through the site can upload and manage their own products, stock, logo, photos and description, and LYL aims to get them on-site ready to take orders within 24 hours of signing up.

Watson said LYL is especially interested in ranges that have opted out of distribution to major supermarkets. For details visit www.loveyourlarder.co.uk.
