Bath Cake Company has acquired past National Cupcake Competition award winner Country Cupcakes.

Nikki Cameron, the founder of bath-based Country Cupcakes, is to hang up her piping bag in order to spend more time with her family. Bath Cake Company owner Celia Adams will run Country Cupcakes alongside her existing business in Lansdown Mews.

Adams said the acquisition would enable her to grow the wedding side of her business. “It will also increase opportunities for making cupcakes for special occasions, running cupcake classes and children’s cupcake parties,” she said.

Bath Cake Company produces cakes and traybakes for cafes such as the Egg Theatre Café and Café Lucca. Adams also hosts cake consultations for bespoke celebration and novelty cakes.

Its shop is open to retail customers on Saturday morning, selling a range of sugarcraft equipment and products, alongside its sweet bakery offering. It also stocks bread from The Thoughtful Bread Company.

Country Cupcakes was one of the winners of British Baker’s National Cupcake Competition 2009, for its Eat Your Greens’ cupcake. The 2009 competition saw bakers battle it out for a winning slot on one of British Baker’s Cupcake Week days. Eat Your Green’s was chosen to represent Moorish Monday.
