The Federation of European Union Manufacturers and Suppliers of Ingredients to the bakery, confectionery and patisserie industries (Fedima) is to host a ‘business session’ on national bread and pastry promotional campaigns in Europe, at its General Assembly next month.

Taking place during the event from 14-17 September, at the Hotel Sheraton Krakow, the session will look to build upon an introduction given by its Spanish and Belgian colleagues last year on promotional campaigns for bread and pastry being run in their countries.

It will look at what types of campaigns there currently are in EU member states, best practice advice, the legal considerations, the role of national associations, and how the baking industry can use new methods of communication, such as social media, to promote its products.

A choice of workshop sessions on this topic will then follow. To find out more, visit www.fedima.org.

A recent report published by the The International Association of Plant Bakeries, showed bread consumption was relatively flat across Europe, and had decreased in a number of EU countries during 2010, including in the UK (down 1%).
