Premier Foods has appointed Iwan Williams to head up the group’s newly configured bakery businesses.

Previously strategic marketing director of Coca-Cola Asia-Pacific, Williams has been hired as managing director for the company’s £1.1bn Bread, Cake, Milling and Brookes Avana businesses as of November. This includes brands such as Hovis and Mr Kipling.

He joins at a time when the company is undergoing a restructure of its leadership team under the management of newly appointed chief executive officer Michael Clarke. Graham Hunter will also join the company early in 2012 to lead Premier Foods’ £1bn grocery business from 2 Sisters Food Group.

Commenting on the changes, Clarke said: “I am delighted to welcome Iwan and Graham to Premier Foods. We are pleased to have attracted two outstanding individuals to these new key roles and I look forward to working with them both as we start to rebuild the company.”

As part of the new structure, the role of chief operating officer will disappear and commercial leadership responsibilities will be split between the grocery and bakery businesses. Tim Kelly, executive director and chief operating officer will leave Premier Foods as a result, following a short hand-over.

Williams’ previous general management and marketing experience includes president of McCormicks Europe, Middle East and Africa, as well as positions with S C Johnson Wax and Cadbury Schweppes.
