GH Sheldon Family Bakers is investing £730,000 in its production facility.

The Manchester-based bakery is increasing roll capacity by 30% and aiming to also enhance efficiency in its hot cross bun production through the investment.

Sarah Sheldon, a director of GH Sheldon, said: “We’re passionate about baking and extremely proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but in order to develop and grow our reputation for great-quality muffins, rolls and morning goods, we recognise the need to invest in our buildings, infrastructure and people.”

She added that due to the UK’s good summer weather, combined with increased range distribution with current customers, the bakery has experienced higher order levels than usual.

In order to benefit from this, the bakery employed a further 40 staff, a quality and continuous product improvement manager, and an HR manager last month.

Lee Sheldon, also a director, added: “This investment in people, processes and infrastructure will see us on our way to achieving our aim of becoming one of the leading bakeries for morning goods and rolls in the country.”
