Ginsters has launched a range of premium pasties developed with the head chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant.

The Cornish Handcrafted pasties, which Ginsters said were its most premium yet, are available in two flavours:

  • Cornish Handcrafted Cornish Pasty: made with West Country beef with potato, onion and swede, finished with a dollop of Cornish clotted cream.
  • Cornish Handcrafted Chicken, Chorizo and Cornish Gouda Pasty: Filled with 100% British roast chicken mixed with chorizo, potato, onion, swede and piquanté peppers, as well as Cornish Gouda and mature cheddar.

They have been developed in collaboration with Chris Eden, head chef at one of Cornwall’s most prestigious Michelin-starred restaurants.

“Shoppers have been rightfully questioning why there is no premium offering within the food-to-go environment; this is where they are willing to trade up,” said Mike Smith, marketing director at Ginsters.

“Our Cornish Handcrafted range meets consumer demand for wider variety combining both traditional methods and contemporary flavours – that’s why it works so well as an on-the-go solution but also in-home, relaxed dining.”

Ginsters said the range had already picked up commendations at this year’s British Pie Awards and Taste of the West.

Smith added: “Launching our Cornish Handcrafted range with multiple accolades already under our belt shows our commitment to quality, taste and provenance – key drivers for category growth.”

The Ginsters Handcrafted range will be available exclusively at Tesco stores nationwide from 3 June, RRP £2.25 each. Ginsters regular pasties have an RRP of £1.60.
